Our Guest Speakers

ERIK SOLHEIM

“On World Environment Day, it’s a pleasure for me to greet the young people of India. Even though I am residing in the beautiful lands of Norway, I am sure India is an equally ethereal place from the paddy fields of Tamil Nadu to the fantastic mountains of the Himalayas, from to the great cities of Mumbai or Delhi or Lucknow. It is, for the first time in human history we don’t need the old idea of polluting the earth and then taking care of it.”

“Instead, we can move rapidly into Green Agriculture which is good for the farmers and for the economy, their jobs at the same time fantastic for Mother Earth. Our next goal would be protecting the Tigers in Assam & Maharashtra. It is true that Eco-Tourists will come and a good economy will be created, good for the local people and for the environment of India. In India now, honorable Prime Minister Modi is turning towards solar power in so many areas, again fantastic because it creates jobs, much better for the health of Indians and at the same time wonderful for Mother Earth and Nature. So when it comes to Model United Nations, let’s discuss all these opportunities to get the future right for India and for the world.”

ABHIJIT MISHRA

Dr. Abhijit Mishra is our first guest of honor and is a profound researcher in marine sciences. He shared his extensive knowledge in the conference on the same to help make all the participants learn about different aspects of pollution, climate change, and the blue economy from the scientific lens. It was bewildering to hear such words of wisdom from the person who has done an applaudable task of bringing global appreciation to India and is famously renowned for it. This was a perfect opportunity to not only spread awareness on the direct implications to our environment but also learn so much!

ERFAN FIROUZI

“Our planet, operates just like a living, breathing organism. Its habitats, made up of countless different species, work like its organs. Our planet’s poles act like an air conditioning system, The sea ice works like a soil, harbouring algae, Freshwater systems transport life-giving water and nutrients throughout the landscape, Immense forests straddling the globe, and trillions of microscopic floating plants in the surface of our oceans locking away carbon and releasing oxygen and Coastal mangroves and coral reefs act like breakwaters. For any one of these biomes to work, the plants, animals, fungi and microbes within them must all play their part. And no species on Earth has benefited more from this fact than us humans. While our past has been written, our future is yet to be determined and is in our hands. This is not about saving our planet, this is about saving ourselves.

If we take action, the wild will recover. And as it does so, bring back the stability and productivity that we rely on. Wherever we leave space, forests, wetlands, grasslands and mangroves will regenerate. Mother Nature would then, be reincarnated in its own magical and natural way.”
