Erfan Firouzi
Founder | COY18 and COP28 Delegate |🔬Researcher |🗣️ Speaker | TEDx Speaker | 📚 Award-winning Storyteller |⛰️ Naturalist | ♻️ Environmentalist | 🐢 Conservationist | 🐼 EWS WWF Leader of Change | 👑 Leader | ✒️ Author | Member at Youngo & Global Youth Biodiversity Network
Erfan Firouzi is a young naturalist, biodiversity researcher, environmental storyteller, and international youth leader whose work reflects a rare synthesis of scientific inquiry, natural history, public communication, and ethical conservation leadership. Currently a Bachelor of Science student at Monash University, specializing in environmental science, ecology, and biodiversity, Firouzi has already developed a body of work that spans research, education, media, policy engagement, and youth mobilization on a global scale.
Like the formative years of Sir David Attenborough and Dr. Jane Goodall, Firouzi’s journey into conservation began not through institutional authority, but through observation, curiosity, and time spent with the living world. His work is defined by a deep respect for nature as teacher, a commitment to scientific integrity, and a belief that storytelling is essential to conservation.
Early Connection to Nature & Formation as a Naturalist
Erfan Firouzi’s engagement with biodiversity began at the age of 10, rooted in an instinctive fascination with wildlife, ecosystems, and the interconnectedness of life. Rather than approaching nature abstractly, he immersed himself directly—observing species, collecting specimens ethically, documenting ecosystems, and asking foundational ecological questions.
This early immersion mirrors the naturalist tradition that shaped conservation pioneers: learning from nature itself before speaking for it. Over time, this curiosity matured into structured scientific learning, conservation ethics, and a lifelong dedication to environmental stewardship.
Scientific Practice & Natural History Contributions
Firouzi’s scientific work is grounded in classical natural history, field-based research, and ecological documentation. One of his most significant contributions is the creation and subsequent donation of a scientific collection exceeding 300 biological specimens, encompassing flora and fauna preserved through professional methods including plant press preservation, wet specimen techniques, taxidermy, and entomological preparation.
These collections were formally donated to:
Islamic Azad University, Shiraz – Department of Biological Sciences
Natural History Museum and Technology, Shiraz
They now serve as permanent educational and research resources, supporting taxonomy, biodiversity studies, and hands-on ecological learning—an increasingly rare but invaluable contribution in modern conservation science.
Firouzi has also contributed to published biodiversity research, including the first documented record of the invasive Vegetable Leafminer (Liriomyza sativae) in Dubai, analyzing its ecological and agricultural implications. This work demonstrates his ability to connect local field observations with broader ecosystem health and policy relevance.
Author & Intellectual Contribution
Erfan Firouzi is the author of “The Year Earth Changed”, a scientifically grounded yet accessible book exploring the evolution of life on Earth, biodiversity, extinction, and humanity’s relationship with nature. Written through the perspective of a young naturalist, the book blends ecology, evolutionary biology, conservation science, and narrative storytelling.
The book has been widely used as an educational tool, particularly among youth audiences, inspiring readers to recognize biodiversity as a living system rather than an abstract concept.
In addition, Firouzi has contributed to:
Conservation poetry and fundraising publications
Scientific articles and biodiversity reports
Educational writing and curriculum-aligned resources
Environmental Storytelling & Media Work
Central to Firouzi’s work is the belief that science alone does not protect nature—people do. To bridge this gap, he has dedicated much of his work to environmental storytelling across diverse media.
He is the Founder and Host of “Nature Talks”, a long-running podcast established in 2018 that explores wildlife, conservation science, sustainability, and environmental ethics through expert interviews and narrative discussion. He is also the Founder and Co-Host of “EcoBuzz”, recorded at Monash Radio, which delves into biodiversity science, ecosystem restoration, and emerging environmental research.
Beyond podcasts, Firouzi’s storytelling spans:
Documentary-style video content
Public lectures and keynote talks
Educational exhibitions showcasing real biological specimens
Digital campaigns reaching global audiences
His ability to communicate complex ecological concepts with clarity, emotional intelligence, and scientific accuracy has become one of his defining strengths.
Global Advocacy & Policy Engagement
Erfan Firouzi is an active international youth delegate and advocate, representing biodiversity and youth perspectives at major global platforms, including:
COP28 (UNFCCC, Dubai) – Youth Hub speaker, Green Zone and Blue Zone participant
COP16 (Colombia) – Youth delegate focusing on biodiversity negotiations
COY18 – Youth biodiversity advocate
World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC)
TEDx and TEDxYouth Conferences (speaker and organizer)
At these forums, Firouzi has engaged policymakers, scientists, educators, and the public in discussions on biodiversity loss, rewilding, climate justice, youth leadership, and ecosystem restoration. His advocacy is characterized by constructive dialogue, scientific grounding, and an emphasis on solutions rather than alarmism.
Leadership, Organizations & Institutional Roles
Firouzi is the Founder & Executive Director of The Wildlife Focus, established in 2018 as a global youth-led platform for biodiversity conservation, education, and rewilding advocacy. Under his leadership, the organization has become a recognized hub for youth engagement, scientific storytelling, and conservation initiatives.
His leadership roles and affiliations include:
Member – Youngo UNFCCC
Member – Global Youth Biodiversity Network
Member – World Economic Forum Global Shapers

Through these roles, Firouzi contributes to conservation strategy, youth empowerment, education, and global collaboration.
Education & Continuous Learning
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at Monash University, Firouzi’s academic focus includes ecology, biodiversity, environmental systems, and climate science. Complementing his formal education, he has completed extensive training through:
UN CC:Learn

Philosophy & Legacy
At the heart of Erfan Firouzi’s work lies a philosophy shared by the world’s most respected conservationists:
that humanity’s survival is inseparable from the survival of the natural world.
Like Sir David Attenborough, he believes in bearing witness to nature and telling its story truthfully. Like Dr. Jane Goodall, he believes in hope rooted in action, education, and compassion. His work reflects a commitment not to momentary influence, but to long-term ecological responsibility.
Though still at the beginning of his academic and professional journey, Firouzi’s contributions already reflect the foundations of a lifelong legacy in conservation. His work continues to inspire young people worldwide to observe more closely, think more deeply, and act more responsibly for the planet they inherit.
