About Us

Who Are We?

The Wildlife Focus is a global, youth-led conservation initiative devoted to understanding, protecting, and restoring Earth’s biodiversity through science, storytelling, and action. Founded in 2018 by Erfan Firouzi, a young naturalist, biodiversity researcher, author, and environmental advocate, The Wildlife Focus was created to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public understanding, and between youth passion and real-world impact.

Our work is rooted in the same philosophy that has defined the careers of Sir David Attenborough and Dr. Jane Goodall:
that long-term observation of nature, respect for science, and powerful storytelling can fundamentally change how humanity sees — and treats — the natural world.

We do not merely document wildlife.
We interpret it, protect it, and give it a voice.

Our Conservation Ethos

The Wildlife Focus is guided by a conservation ethos shaped by the world’s most influential naturalists and conservation scientists:

1. Nature First, Always

Like Dr. Jane Goodall’s lifelong commitment to fieldwork and species-specific understanding, we believe conservation must begin with direct observation, ecological literacy, and respect for natural systems. Every species, ecosystem, and interaction matters.

2. Science as the Foundation

Our initiatives are grounded in scientific research, biodiversity studies, and ecological principles. We believe conservation without science lacks direction, and science without communication lacks impact.

3. Storytelling as a Force for Change

Inspired by Sir David Attenborough’s unparalleled ability to bring nature into the public consciousness, we use storytelling to translate complex ecological realities into human understanding — through film, writing, public speaking, and digital media.

4. Hope, Not Despair

While we acknowledge the urgency of biodiversity loss and climate change, we reject hopelessness. Like Attenborough and Goodall, we believe that hope is created through action, especially when young people are empowered to lead.

Founded on Youth Leadership

The Wildlife Focus is built on a defining belief:
young people are not future conservationists — they are present-day change-makers.

Founded by Erfan Firouzi after nearly a decade of engagement in biodiversity research and advocacy beginning at age 10, the organization exists to provide young people with:

  • Knowledge rooted in science

  • Platforms for visibility and influence

  • Opportunities for real conservation action

This belief was powerfully reinforced during COP28, where Erfan witnessed firsthand the tangible impact youth voices can have in global environmental decision-making.

A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER

Dear Friends,

My journey into biodiversity research and conservation began with curiosity — curiosity sparked by observing wildlife, ecosystems, and the quiet complexity of the natural world. Like many who came before me, including Sir David Attenborough and Dr. Jane Goodall, I learned early that to truly protect nature, we must first learn to listen to it.

Over nearly a decade, I have worked as a biodiversity researcher, author, and environmental storyteller, seeking to merge scientific understanding with human connection. I authored “The Year Earth Changed” to make biodiversity science accessible and meaningful, particularly to young audiences, and have spoken on international platforms to advocate for urgent action on biodiversity loss.

What I have learned is simple but powerful:
people protect what they understand, and they understand what they feel connected to.

The Wildlife Focus was created to nurture that connection — to inspire curiosity, empower youth, and turn awareness into action. My hope is that every young person who engages with our work feels capable of making a difference, just as generations before us were inspired by the voices of Attenborough and Goodall.

We are not here merely to observe history.
We are here to help shape it.

Sincerely,

Erfan Firouzi

Founder & Executive Director

Mission

At The Wildlife Focus, our mission is to empower and inspire a global generation of environmental stewards by advancing biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and youth-led action. We aim to: Promote scientific understanding of biodiversity and ecosystems Encourage ethical, evidence-based conservation practices Use storytelling to humanize science and amplify nature’s voice Provide platforms where young people lead meaningful environmental change Advocate for rewilding and ecosystem restoration as essential solutions to planetary crises

Vision

We envision a world where: Biodiversity is recognized as fundamental to human survival Conservation decisions are informed by science and compassion Young people lead local and global environmental movements Humanity lives in balance with nature, not in conflict with it Our vision aligns with the enduring legacy of Sir David Attenborough and Dr. Jane Goodall — a future where knowledge fosters respect, respect drives responsibility, and responsibility ensures survival.
